Manuel DePina, 91, passed away quietly in his home of many years. He was husband to the Late Nely Pires. Born in Brava, Cape Verde to the late Jose Mendes and Julia DePina. Immigrating to the United States, he became a valued member of the Cape Verdean community in the City of Pawtucket.
He had been employed by Providence Braiding and International Packaging for many years.
Manuel is survived by eight children, Ida Pires, John Manuel Pires, Carlota De Pina, Julia Pires De Pina, Maria De Fatima Pires De Pina, John Pires Pina, Maria Isabel Sadlier, Elizabeth Pires De Pina, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Joao Baptista Pires De Pina.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on December 15th at 10am in Mount Hope Community Baptist Church, 734 Hope St., Providence. Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4pm until 7pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln.
